NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Education of the Amityville Union
Free School District, in the
County of Suffolk, New
York, has adopted a resolution on January 13, 2016,
authorizing a Special District Meeting of the qualified
voters of said School District
to be held on
Tuesday, March 8, 2016
from 7:00 o’clock A.M. to
9:00 o’clock P.M. (Prevailing
Time) at the following two
voting places:
(1) Northeast Elementary School
420 Albany Avenue, Amityville, New York for those
persons residing in the Election District No. 1
(2) Amityville Memorial High School
250 Merrick Road, Amityville, New York, for those
persons residing in the Election District No. 2
for the purpose of voting
upon the following Bond
Proposition:
BOND PROPOSITION
RESOLVED:
(a) That the Board
of Education of the Amityville Union Free School
District, in the County of
Suffolk, New York (the “District”), is hereby authorized
to construct additions and/
or improvements to District buildings and the sites
thereof (the “Project”), substantially as described in a
plan dated January 7, 2016,
prepared for the District by
BBS Architects Landscape
Architects and Engineers
PC, (the “Plan”), which is on
file and available for public
inspection at the office of the
District Clerk; such Project
to include (as and where required): building additions
to provide for enrollment
and program needs, including interior reconstruction,
space reconfiguration, and
technology improvements;
and District-wide ADA improvements and improvements to security, fire alarm
and fire safety systems,
windows, doors, floors,
walls, lighting, heating,
ventilation, electrical and
air-conditioning systems,
lavatories, gymnasiums,
cafeterias and auditoriums;
and building envelope and
site improvements including

roof replacement, masonry,
and paving; all of the foregoing to include the original
furnishings, equipment,
machinery, apparatus and
ancillary or related site, demolition and other work required in connection therewith; and to expend therefor,
including preliminary costs
and costs incidental thereto
and to the financing thereof,
an amount not to exceed
the estimated total cost of
$69,986,700; provided that
the detailed costs of the
components of the Project
as set forth in the Plan may
be reallocated among the
components of such Project
if the Board of Education
shall determine that such
reallocation is in the best
interests of the District;
(b) that a tax is hereby voted in the aggregate
amount of not to exceed
$69,986,700 to finance such
cost, such tax to be levied
and collected in installments in such years and in
such amounts as shall be
determined by said Board
of Education; and
(c) that in anticipation
of said tax, bonds of the District are hereby authorized
to be issued in the aggregate
principal amount of not to
exceed $69,986,700 and a
tax is hereby voted to pay the
interest on said bonds as the
same shall become due and
payable.
Such Bond Proposition shall
appear on the ballot labels
to be inserted in the voting
machines used for voting at
said Special District Meeting
in substantially the following condensed form:

$69,986,700; (b) that a tax in
the amount of not to exceed
$69,986,700 is hereby voted
to finance such cost, such tax
to be levied and collected in
installments in such years
and in such amounts as
shall be determined by said

Board of Education; and (c)
that in anticipation of said
tax, bonds of the District
are hereby authorized to
be issued in the aggregate
principal amount of not to
exceed $69,986,700 and a
tax is hereby voted to pay the
interest on said bonds as the
same shall become due and
payable.
The voting will be conducted
by ballot on voting machines as provided in the
Education Law and the polls
will remain open from 7:00
o’clock A.M. to 9:00 o’clock
P.M. (Prevailing Time) and
as much longer as may be
necessary to enable the voters then present to cast their
ballots.
AND FURTHER NOTICE
IS HEREBY GIVEN, that
personal registration of
voters is required either
pursuant to § 2014 of the
Education Law or pursuant
to Article 5 of the Election
Law. If a voter has heretofore registered pursuant
to § 2014 of the Education
Law in the Amityville Union
Free School District and has
voted at an annual or special
district meeting in such
district within the last four
(4) calendar years (since
January 1, 2012), he or she is
eligible to vote at this Special
District Meeting. If a voter
is registered and eligible to
vote under Article 5 of the
Election Law, he or she is
also eligible to vote at this
Special District Meeting.
All other persons who wish
to vote must register.
In order to register, a person
must be: a citizen of the
United States; at least 18
years of age; and a resident
of the District for a period
of thirty days next preceding
the Special District Meeting.
Voters may register to vote
on any school day not less
than five (5) days preceding
the Special District Meeting
at the District Office, 150
Park Avenue, Amityville,
New York, between the
hours of 8:30 o’clock A.M.
and 4:00 o’clock P.M. (Prevailing Time), at which time
any person will be entitled to
have his or her name placed
on such registers, provided
that he or she is known or
proven to the satisfaction of
the Board of Registration to
be then or thereafter entitled
to vote at the Special District
Meeting for which the register is prepared.
The register so prepared
pursuant to §2014 of the
Education Law will be filed

in the Office of the Clerk of
the School District in the
Park North Administration Building, and will be
open for inspection by any
qualified voter of the District
beginning on March 3, 2016,
between the hours of 9:00
o’clock A.M. and 4:00 o’clock
P.M. (Prevailing Time) on
weekdays, and each day
prior to the day set for the
election, except Sunday, and
by advance appointment on
Saturday, March 5, 2016, and
at the polling places on the
day of the vote.
AND FURTHER NOTICE
IS HEREBY GIVEN, that
applications for absentee
ballots will be obtainable
during school business
hours at the office of the
District Clerk beginning
Monday, February 8, 2016.
If the ballot is to be mailed
to the voter, the completed
application must be received
by the District Clerk no
later than March 1, 2016. If
the ballot is to be delivered
personally to the voter at the
office of the District Clerk,
the completed application
must be received by the
District Clerk no later than
March 7, 2016, the day before the vote. Absentee ballots must be received by the
District Clerk not later than
4:00 o’clock P.M. (Prevailing
Time), on Tuesday, March
8, 2016.
A list of persons to whom
absentee ballots are issued
will be available for inspection to qualified voters of the
District in the office of the
District Clerk on and after
Thursday, March 3, 2016,
between the hours of 9:00
o’clock A.M. and 4:00 o’clock
P.M. (Prevailing Time) on
weekdays prior to March
8, 2016, the day set for the
Special District Meeting.
Any qualified voter may,
upon examination of such
list, file a written challenge
of the qualifications as a
voter of any person whose
name appears on such list,
stating the reasons for such
challenge. Any such written
challenge shall be transmitted by the District Clerk or
a designee of the Board of
Education to the inspectors
of election on the day of the
Special District Meeting.
